Stephanie Fjetland M.S.S.W. is a former clinical social worker and mental health professional from Amarillo, TX. She graduated with a Master’s degree in social work in 2011 and spent several years working as a case manager in family poverty prevention before becoming an inpatient psychiatric hospital clinician. She is an advocate of mental health care and policy reform. In 2016 she relocated to Austin, TX where she later wrote and published her first collection of works, “In the Shambles: Revised”. She is the sole creator of “The Petty Cow” blog and mental health project, “Kinda Unprofessional.”  She believes in public access to mental health information and social supports, the creative arts, literature, and live music. She believes these concepts to be critical to public health and safety as well as the human spirit and mind. She recently released her third collection “In the Last Place I Saw You: A Collection of Poetry for the Misfits, the Lost, the Grieving, and the Hopeless Romantics“. She is a mother of five. She is a survivor of gun violence and homicide. She is currently working on a fourth collection of poetry, a novel, blog, meditation readings, and coping strategies workbooks for those without access to mental health support information. She hopes that someday it will replace her day job.
